Thickeners are used for dewatering slurries of either tailings or product. A thickener is a large circular tank that is used to settle out the solid material from the water in the feed slurry.It is widely used for dealing with slime, wastewater, waste residue in metallurgy, mine, coal, petrochemical industry, building materials, environmental protection department etc.
There are three main types of thickener according to its transmission mode, among which the first two are more common:
1. Center drive type
The central drive concentrator is suitable for concentrate concentration and tailings dehydration before filtering below 20 meters. It can also be widely used in coal, chemical industry, building materials, water source and sewage treatment and other industries to concentrate and purify slurry containing solid materials.
Usually this kind of thickener smaller diameter, generally within 24 meters in the majority.
2. High efficiency thickener
High efficiency thickener is a new type of solid-liquid separation equipment, suitable for concentrator concentrate and tailings dehydration treatment, 20-30% of the pulp to increase to 40-70%, the high efficiency thickener is widely used in tailings treatment, wet smelting, environmental engineering dressing, environmental engineering and many other fields.
This kind of thickener is small in diameter, generally in 3-15 meters.
3. Peripheral drive type
Peripheral drive thickener is mainly used for dewatering treatment of wet separation and selection in the process of mineral processing. It is generally set between selection and filtration equipment, sometimes used for pre-selection dewatering, and can also be used for dewatering in chemical industry and coal preparation plant.
More common medium and large thickener, the diameter is usually about 15-30 meters.
1.Deaeration cell is provided to prevent solid particles from attaching to bubbles so that solid particles can fall like a parachute.
2.The mineral-feeding pipe is lower than the pulp surface, it prevents the air to be brought in while feeding.
3.Inner overflow weir is equipped to make the pulp flow on pre-designed route, avoiding short circuit, enlarging the sedimental area.
4.The peg linear is changed from oblique lines to curves. So the discharging underflow has higher density, and treatment capacity is enhanced.
